When this "New Beautiful Hotel" was build and Open in 1999 by "Circus Circus Enterprise" on Las Vegas Strip, countless times I had to explain to customers at work place and other, who wants to know this "strange" English name "Mandalay" (actually Burmese name written in English spelling) because I'm the ONLY Burmese in the work place in all employees & management of the entire Hotel let alone Restaurant. Employees come to me for help in explaining their customers curiosity about "Mandalay" for I'm the ONLY one who can explain in clarity because I came from there. The world doesn't know much about the COUNTRY "Myanmar" let alone the City "Mandalay" where the ancient last Burmese Kingdom resides. Myanmar closed its doors for Centuries let alone decades where time stood still and outside world shut off by Brutal Buddhist Military Regimes on to this day.

I heard Myanmar Military Chief approach with olive branch (peaceful request) to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the winning & popular NLD party leader AND holding the State Counselor position at that time. She refused and Rejected the Military Chief Offer. That sparked the Coup. Some "other" VITAL factors maybe the reasons for unavoidable COUP. Using "democracy as an excuse" to break the Union, not to mention supporting foreign Countries to interfere is blatant move of treason. Some greedy power / authority MONGERS uses political agenda AND civilians/people as PAWNS (resulting 2,900 deaths so far) to achieve their goals n objectives. I heard Myanmar Military Chief approach with olive branch (peaceful request) to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the winning & popular NLD party leader AND holding the State Counselor position at that time. She refused and Rejected the Military Chief Offer. That sparked the Coup. Some "other" VITAL factors maybe the reasons for unavoidable COUP.
